Not The Year We Expected .....

Well, what a year 2020 is turning out to be, one we will never forget and one that our kids will tell tales of to future generations. But while we are able to one day tell stories of this time, many are still trying to come to terms with this new way of life. It is not easy and for many it is down right scary, if you need any help at all, you can reach out to your extended Bloordale family at anytime :)

The TDSB has so many links at your finger tips to help you get started in finding help where you need it; from online learning to mental health, the website has got you many starting points.

From one parent to another, you know your kids and if you can see that they are having trouble adjusting to the new school norms, reach out to your child's teacher; we are all in this together and this is new and unprecedented for all of us :)

Looking for some online resources, the TDSB website may have what you need. To help you navigate, here are some specific links on the TDSB Website:

Moving Beyond Just One Week

While this is the end of the week of Truth and Reconciliation we as a community need to move forward and continue learning and taking part in ways moving towards reconciliation in the weeks, months, and years to come.  To continue the journey learn and follow some if the many issues affecting our First Nation, Metis, and Inuit neighbours. Once you know more you may want to take part and help these communities bring change and support these crucial issues.  >  https://waterfirst.ngo/what-we-do/ >  https://www.mmiwg-ffada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Calls_for_Justice.pdf >  https://sixtiesscoopsettlement.info/ >  http://www.northernpublicaffairs.ca/index/volume-5-issue-1/food-politics-finding-a-place-for-country-food-in-canadas-northern-food-policy/ >  https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2021/07/22/covid-forces-increase-in-food-prices-decrease-in-food-options-in-northern-remote-ontario.html >  https://www.ictinc.ca/blog/8-key-iss...

Crosswalk at Renforth and Toledo .... lets make it a reality

On November 13 at 6:30 the Eatonville Parent Council will be holding a Traffic Panel Meeting with special guests from the City of Toronto, Traffic Services Department; as well as our local Councillor, Deputy Mayor Stephen Holyday. One of the issues on the agenda will be the need for a crosswalk on Renforth Drive, closer to Toledo. As a lead up to this meeting I have created a petition for all in our area who recognize the need for this important safety infastructure which is long overdue. Did you know that our school turns 60 in 2020? The roads around us have changed a lot since Bloordale opened in 1960, wouldn't it be nice if this was the year we could give the gift of safety for all our current and future Bloordale students! We have a plaque for 50 years on a rock outside our front door, perhaps a plaque near a new crosswalk this time, sounds like a nice idea don't you think!
