New Project - Book Club for Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers

Outside of the work being done behind the scenes we do need to remember that the year is not over yet and so we are looking to start an informal, informative, and fun way for families to connect. No matter where your kids are learning, in-school or virtually,  we are a community and many of us are craving interaction with our friends and neighbours.

While we are not able to yet be together in person, we can use what we have and so I am putting together an online book club for any Parent, Guardian, or Caregiver who would like to spend an hour, once or twice a month, talking books!

This is a parent-led initiative and will be led by parent volunteers and not school staff. For more information please fill in the form and a separate email will be sent to those who wish to take part.

For planning purposes, please complete the form by Monday April 5th: https://forms.gle/G2K7fimFXMMzRnvB9

Do You Need Help With ---- Food

So many families in our city find the expenses related to food difficult in the best of times; in the last couple of months this stress has become even worse for so many more families. There are families all over our city and beyond who earlier this year could never have imagined that they would be faced with food insecurity in a matter of only weeks!  As we all were looking forward to the end of a long winter and making plans for this spring and coming summer, future plans just stopped in place. I know I don't need to go on but what I want to use this post for is to let those of you who may need some help know who you an turn to here in our own community! Sponsorship Options Still Available

Have you noticed the sponsorship signs outside the main doors?  Have you thought about how many people drive past that each day, how many of our neighbourhood  residents walk past each day?  Now what about the exposure that is given to our sponsors on our website, in these newsletters, and even at the event itself?  Keep in mind that we promote the Fun Fair right across the area through our feeder schools, local library, independent businesses, and community bulletin boards. 80% of the profit of this event will go right back into the school to improve the technology that our students use each day. Ask your kids how much it is needed, they will be your best insight! With all this said, there are 3 different levels and if you or someone you know is a small business owner who is looking to help a good cause, please consider Bloordale Fun Fair Sponsorship.  Contact us via email and we will have our Sponsorship Lead Extraordinaire contact you w...

Moving Beyond Just One Week

While this is the end of the week of Truth and Reconciliation we as a community need to move forward and continue learning and taking part in ways moving towards reconciliation in the weeks, months, and years to come.  To continue the journey learn and follow some if the many issues affecting our First Nation, Metis, and Inuit neighbours. Once you know more you may want to take part and help these communities bring change and support these crucial issues.  >  https://waterfirst.ngo/what-we-do/ >  https://www.mmiwg-ffada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Calls_for_Justice.pdf >  https://sixtiesscoopsettlement.info/ >  http://www.northernpublicaffairs.ca/index/volume-5-issue-1/food-politics-finding-a-place-for-country-food-in-canadas-northern-food-policy/ >  https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2021/07/22/covid-forces-increase-in-food-prices-decrease-in-food-options-in-northern-remote-ontario.html >  https://www.ictinc.ca/blog/8-key-iss...
