where you can help!

Fun Fair is coming sooner than you think ….
The evening of Thursday June 13 will be full of fun and games and you will not want to miss out! Planning has been in the works for months and now you can read all about it and keep up to date with our new website!

Silent Auction
Every Bloordale Fun Fair has a silent auction that runs at the event. This year we are stepping it up a notch and the auction will start next week (May 1) and run right up to the evening of the fair, online! You can even start browsing today with some early items that are up on the auction site to get a taste of what’s to come. Once the auction closes at 7 pm on the night of the fair winners will still be asked to pay at the school as online payments will not be accepted for auction items.

Check back often as items will continue to be added as we receive them!

As always, we are happy to receive donations from our school community and so please see the attached letter for more information.

Question of the Month
In the last newsletter we asked how often you would like to receive updates from the council and the majority of respondents said they would like updates a couple of times a month! So, we are going to try this out for the remainder of the year and keep parents informed of all the events and special days that are happening which is actually a good time as the last couple of months are always very busy here at Bloordale. Keep your eyes on your inbox every other Friday for more Bloordale Council News!

For ease, we will move question of the month to our website so visit often for updates and new ways to have your say!

But as always you can email us at BloordaleParents@gmail.com with your questions, thoughts, and ideas!

Calls To Action - Truth and Reconciliation Sept 30

This week, Thursday to be exact, our country recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.   This week each day on the blog we will provide resources you and your family can use to better understand what this day means and why it is needed. Many of us are only learning in recent months and years about the atrocities that occurred to our Indigenous communities over the past 155 years and beyond.  Today I am leaving the link that provides the document that contains the 94 Calls Of Action that were developed by the TRC (the Truth and Reconciliation Commission) in 2015. Even at that time many Canadians did not know about the work being done and only as the discoveries that were made this summer and those that continue to be made has these calls come back to light. Our kids are learning in the classroom; as parents and caregivers we have a responsibility to learn and understand and act too! Today take a few minutes to begin reading the Calls To Action and tomorrow I will have a

Not The Year We Expected .....

Well, what a year 2020 is turning out to be, one we will never forget and one that our kids will tell tales of to future generations. But while we are able to one day tell stories of this time, many are still trying to come to terms with this new way of life. It is not easy and for many it is down right scary, if you need any help at all, you can reach out to your extended Bloordale family at anytime :) The TDSB has so many links at your finger tips to help you get started in finding help where you need it; from online learning to mental health, the website has got you many starting points. From one parent to another, you know your kids and if you can see that they are having trouble adjusting to the new school norms, reach out to your child's teacher; we are all in this together and this is new and unprecedented for all of us :) Looking for some online resources, the TDSB website may have what you need. To help you navigate, here are some specific links on the TDSB Website:
