Bloordale School Council Update
“A Look Back at 2019/2020”

Last year the Parent Council/School Council at Bloordale received a bit of an overhaul!
With new admin and new parents the council really was beginning from scratch.
That said, a small group of committed parents accomplished a lot in one year!

Here is a look back at what they did as they took the helm in early October:

Cookie Sales
Family Movie Night
Donations taken for Snack Program at Winter Concert
Traffic Safety with school admin, local TDSB Trustee and City Councillor
Family Fit Night
Teacher Appreciation Lunch
Fun Fair 2019

Our small group came together and learned a lot really quickly about the school and its
needs and in the end we were able to help purchase some much needed tech equipment in the spring.
Over the coming weeks your kids, the students, will benefit greatly from this support and so I
thank all of those involved last year to make the purchases possible!

Our first meeting of the 2019/2020 school year will be held on
Wednesday, September 25th at 6:30pm. We hope to see many new parents and guardians
coming out; the more voices and opinions we hear, the more effective this years council
will be at serving the whole Bloordale Family Community!

Sponsorship Options Still Available

Have you noticed the sponsorship signs outside the main doors?  Have you thought about how many people drive past that each day, how many of our neighbourhood  residents walk past each day?  Now what about the exposure that is given to our sponsors on our website, in these newsletters, and even at the event itself?  Keep in mind that we promote the Fun Fair right across the area through our feeder schools, local library, independent businesses, and community bulletin boards. 80% of the profit of this event will go right back into the school to improve the technology that our students use each day. Ask your kids how much it is needed, they will be your best insight! With all this said, there are 3 different levels and if you or someone you know is a small business owner who is looking to help a good cause, please consider Bloordale Fun Fair Sponsorship.  Contact us via email and we will have our Sponsorship Lead Extraordinaire contact you w...

Do You Need Help With ---- Food

So many families in our city find the expenses related to food difficult in the best of times; in the last couple of months this stress has become even worse for so many more families. There are families all over our city and beyond who earlier this year could never have imagined that they would be faced with food insecurity in a matter of only weeks!  As we all were looking forward to the end of a long winter and making plans for this spring and coming summer, future plans just stopped in place. I know I don't need to go on but what I want to use this post for is to let those of you who may need some help know who you an turn to here in our own community! It is not easy and for many it is down right scary, if you need any help at all, you can reach out to your extended Bloordale family at anytime :) The TDSB has so many links at your finger tips to help you get started in finding help where you need it; from online learning to mental health, the website has got you many starting points. From one parent to another, you know your kids and if you can see that they are having trouble adjusting to the new school norms, reach out to your child's teacher; we are all in this together and this is new and unprecedented for all of us :) Looking for some online resources, the TDSB website may have what you need.
